Sustainability is About Efficiency
Overusing fertilizer is expensive and bad for rivers. Burning fossil fuels produces pollution that needs to be cleaned up. Single use plastics stay in the environment for 100+ years but only provide minutes of utility. Overfishing leads to long-term reductions in catch. All of these things are poor business practices because they create long-term problems, like running up too much debt. But we believe business can be a great source of the innovations and policies that will address these problems.
At the same time, NGOs are vital to dealing with these issues. They see first-hand what works and what doesn't and can provide valuable feedback to business.
